The stylish appearance of 5310 XpressMusic should get the attention the beautiful half of humanity, but this model is not only for them. Nokia 5320XpressMusic is a device based on S60 for those who need high-quality music solution at an affordable price. The mobile phone is presented in two colors, so at least some choice is available.
The new device is made from high quality plastic – glossy on the front and back side, matt with perforation at the ends. Naturally, the luster becomes dirty quickly, but this is the case with many modern phones.
On the left side are the player control buttons and memory card slot. The right side took the volume control wheel and a camera button.
On the front panel, on the right of the slot of dynamics, is a small button to quickly access the pre-selected function or run the music in one touch (a function called say and play). The Nokia battery is located at the back side of the phone.
5320 XpressMusic is medium in size, it’s not as thin as 5310, so not everyone will like. This is just a matter of taste, nothing more.
The standard connector (3.5 mm) to connect the headphones is located on the lower end near the microUSB connector, with tightly closed cap.
By the way, I personally enjoyed the location of headphone jack on the top slot, as in 5310, so that the wire does not need to do an extra loop in the pocket.
Keyboard and display
At arm’s length, the keyboard looks neat and nice, but…. it is somehow not convenient to work with it. The reason for this are the crowded keys. They are located close to each other and they are small. This also applies to the navigation and type blocks.
Thus, when controlling the player I was constantly pressing the wrong button, I was thrown into the standby mode, or by accident, I switched the track. A few days of intensive use, I never got used to the keyboard, and I tried to be accurate, but, this did not help.
Lighting is of white color, bright, and clearly visible in the dark. The navigation key is deprived of light, which is traditional for many of today’s phones.
The new device has a 2-inch display with the usual today 320×240 resolution. If you unscrew the brightness at full steam, then under the direct rays of the sun you will notice on the screen well visible icons, symbols and text.
If the brightness is slightly reduced, then it is not easy to see the information in the above mentioned circumstances.
Music
It is clear that most potential buyers will, most likely be considering the phone as “good music phone with lots of other functions”, rather than as something different. And I must state that the sound is all right, the developers do not have to blush, as a separate chip for playing music does its job.
From the new features I would like to mention Say and Play. In fact, it resembles the voice dialing.
Say and Play works well! When you press the button and say the band’s name or composition, the mobile phone must find it. If recognition is successful, then it takes half seconds for the device to start playing.
Headset Nokia BH-503
We also had the music accessory – Bluetooth Stereo Headset Nokia BH-503, which, by the way was executed in the same colors as the subject of review. As expected, the headset connected both with 5320, and with devices from other manufacturers without any problems. Due to volume keys on right speaker, it is very convenient to manage the player (we have tried to listen to music, as well as answer an incoming call).
The quality of sound is a little upsetting – noises, unpleasant background noise, which annoyed some compositions, were heard in the right channel. Changing the sound source (i.e. the phone) did not produce the desired result – the noise remained. Otherwise, the sound was normal. According to my purely personal impressions, sound can be graded four out of five. It is too difficult to listen to music in the underground, as ears are poorly protected from external noise.
Camera and Games
Nokia 5320 XpressMusic can not be called a cool camera phone because the device has a 2 megapixel camera without autofocus.
LED flash is rather weak, but it can be used as light illumination. Camera control is convenient, and we could not expect something else from Nokia.
It takes 1.5 seconds to record the image in memory of the tube or on the microSD card. The quality of photos can be estimated to be low.
Pre-installed games are famous Marble Cannon, emulator to play guitar, Groove Labyrinth 2 and ridiculous quests Jelly Chase, in which you want to collect balls for underwater caves, and even to meet the deadline.
Conclusion
With 10-15 minutes of calls a day, turned on Bluetooth, listening to the music at full volume for 1,5-2 hours a day and studying the menu, the device worked for three days.
In general, the mobile phone is pretty good. This is a good music phone, which has no obvious competitors. It has very decent sound quality, stylish design, significant functional, excellent build quality.
