Quite rare, but almost always aptly the company Nokia mobile pleases the public with its vision for peripheral gadgets. Another interesting fact is that, not being a pioneer in this field, Nokia produces unusual and always interesting solutions. Whether it’s the usual Bluetooth-headset or BT-digital pen any of these accessories always deserved attention of the public.
Today the company pays special attention to musical theme. Walkman line from Sony-Ericsson is sold well; it’s time to act. Along with increased attention to the musical equipment of phones on the market came several mobile speakers. Such accessory is not something that is desired or vice versa completely useless. Many people want to listen to music on the road or on a picnic, but the difficulty lies in the choice of a number of conventions, which must be tolerated. This is size, mobility and interoperability.
The market offers four accessories with the “MD” index for mobile music lovers from Nokia. There are currently fashionable Bluetooth-dynamics (MD-5W), folding mini-speaker’s (MD-4) or average – MD-3, which we will discuss in our today’s review.
The Set
MD-3 is packed as a good phone in a fairly standard box for Nokia design with already classic white-blue-green colors and positive pictures of happy owners of this device. Inside, the interested user will find the speaker itself, a simple user manual, three finger batteries, charger (AC-4E) and two adapters.
Audio Adapter AD-15 connects link between the standard for the phone Nokia Pop-Port and stereo headphones with a 3.5-millimeter plug.
By the way, this adapter itself also serves as an antenna for the FM-radio. This little Nokia AD-50 is an adapter for the phones and players with 2,5 mm-input which allows to connect standard 3,5 mm headphones to the telephone.
As you can see, the set allows you to connect any modern audio equipment and operate from the network, as well as from the batteries.
Nokia MD-3 Speakers
Let’s talk about the design – the speaker is implemented in very high quality and in silver-black unity. The size and weight, of course, do not allow wearing MD-3 in pocket, but it causes no problems in a small bag of its size.
All indicators and controls are located on the top of the device. Among them – the power indicator, volume control slider and power button.
Asceticism in this case plays into the hands of MD-3, but in our view a simple battery charge indicator would be to the point.
From the use manual: “If the sound of dynamics is too low – change the batteries”. But we live in the 21 st century, so we ought not to measure sound with the help of the charge of batteries. Moreover, once the manufacturer supplied MD-3 with standard for Nokia phone charger, it could place a standard Li-Ion battery. This would increase the attractiveness of this device.
The wire with 3,5 mm plug on the end is made as a strap, it is rather thick and short to become entangled.
While switching on stereo speakers we hear a very loud and fairly clean sound. For the average living room without mentioning the kitchen, the volume should be enough. In the open air MD-3 also shows rather satisfying results. The speaker was tested with such smart phones as Nokia 6630, Nokia 5300 Music and the player iPod of the fifth generation.
In general, even the resources of 6630 are enough for a comfortable listening to music. Particularly harsh rock compositions in collaboration with the iPod, MD-3 did not withstand its own pressure and fell down. The stability of the device was not up to scratch and it should be considered when placing MD-3 on the railing, and other narrow areas.
The quality of the music we analyze with the help of examples. By the way, pop music was played easily and cleanly even at maximum volume. Rock in “heavy styles” turned into a rather unpleasant wheezing. But it must be emphasized – only at maximum volume.
Conclusion
Music Speakers Nokia MD-3 left a pleasant impression. For a picnic or countryside or just for any other event where you can not use something less dimensional, MD-3 is a suitable device. But it is suitable only for background music in the open air or for the individual listening in the room.
