Appearance Nothing special about the exterior can be said about Samsung S5230. The device is so neutral that fit both men and women. And those girls that have long used Samsung WiTu, thought that the new device is a continuation of last year’s leader.
So, the model is relatively thin (11.9 mm), size is not heroic, weight (92 grams) more than acceptable for most users. In width it is one to one with a Nokia N96, so I personally do not feel comfortable, as accustomed to such size. It is clear that the front panel decently polluted after 15 minutes working with the tube, so the device must be frequently wipe with a cloth, so that the surrounding does not thought that you are a slut.
It is gratifying that the back cover is made of perforated plastic. The bad news is that it is thin and easily scratched. It seems that after months of active use of the tube, it will look shabby. In general, many beloved metal is not seen, and therefore not cheap-looking device has some plastic effect. The volume controller, a universal connector, key lock of the display, camera button, eyelet for the strap are placed in their usuall locations. It is convenient for everything, of course.
There are three keys at the front of the device – “receive”, “off” and button to return. In the photo you see that they are a decent size, but they are not highlighted.

Display
Samsung S5230 is equipped with a screen with a resolution of 240 x 400, executed on TFT-technology, which is quite good, at least in the context of this phone. The significant viewing angles, natural colors and, of course, high brightness, which can be adjusted are also worth to mention.
The phone has an appropriate response to touching the screen – even unexperianced users are easily moved from setting to setting, switch the working tables, working with widgets.
Menu
Menu is the simple samsunge version for the touch screen phones, without any updates.
It has support for three desktops and convenient switching between them – move your finger across the screento left-right, and switch between them.
A separate icon provides links to popular resources such as Facebook or Flickr, so the owner will be able to easily load pictures of the camera tube, at least to the same Flickr. A set of widgets is the same as on the model Samsung S8300 Ultra Touch. For example, theer are two weather forecasts from Gismeteo and AccuWeather.
Of course, there is a widget for Yandex news RBC, unchanging calendar, etc. Like S8300, S5230 can also download new widgets, for the benefit of the case the phone has special application where there is a thematic breakdown.
Sound settings are “hidden” in the profiles, where the adjustment of the unit is very convenient – the settings are not dumped in a heap, and caused the screen to the number of multiple units through the horizontal tab. With respect to ringtones, the choice of tunes is quite respectable. The songs sound interesting, and most importantly they have high volume. It is gratifying that the vibration can also be sensitive to configure, i.e. the owner can choose one of five types of vibration.
The company added an interesting feature to the phone called “Intellectual Unlock”. Use it to unlock the phone, run one of the five applications or pre-programmed to dial the number. Now you just need to hold your finger on the screen to do this. So you must choose a letter, which would mean any action, and its style on the screen and encourage staff to certain activities. For example, to unlock the device draw on the screen of capital “A” or “with”.

Also S5230 adequately responds to the press. There is another very remarkable feature – called “photo contacts”, which is in the main menu. Move a finger up and down on the screen, select the appropriate person, click on its icon and there is a tiny submenu offering: call a friend, SMS toa friend, to remove a friend from this list. Incidentally, the numbers are added directly from the call list automatically. So everything is easy and convenient.
Camera
This model does not have a camera with the capacity of 5 or 8 MP. The phone will be equipped with 3.2 MP, with the lack of autofocus and flash. The interface is very familiar from the previous models. As usual, there are several scenes in the stock, including four white balance filter, four color effects, timer, multiple shooting modes. There is a so-called “smiles recognizer”, which works correctly.
Interestingly, besides the size of photos in 3 MP, you can choose the wide version, with the amount of 2000 x 1200.
Music The interface device is similar to what we have seen in previous models, which does not detract from its merits, since it is quite convenient. It supports album art, one click on the screen to change the current sound setting (EQ), repeat mode, or go to the list of songs. It is also very easy (again, directly from the player) you can assign the current song as ringtones, alarms, or personal ringtone to a contact. The phone sounds clear, assertive, without extraneous noise. Bass is also quite significant. Radio is nicely designed as well. It automatically skips some stations with weak signals, but it is quite natural. The radio is supported by scrolling RDS. It shows, of course, not the entire display, but you can read the name of the station. One click on the icon and you can add an external speaker, and output sound to it. It is also convenient to see a list of stations with one click on the screen.
Conclusion
The mobile phone is worth the money you pay for it. It is also important that Samsung S5230 is equipped with high-quality display, also that using the phone, you can easily listen to music and enjoy it. Of course, the camera is not the best, but the new device does not claim to the title of a powerful camera.
