The phone Sony Ericsson Yari can be distinguished in the line of Entertainment Unlimited thought at first glance it does not seem anything unusual or special. The device doesn’t produce the highest performance, and compared with sensory Satio and Aino, it is immediately lost in their background, and makes no interest for discussions. But it can be considered one of the most balanced solutions for the second half of 2009, and that is why it belongs to this lineup. It is not a Walkman and not a Cyber-shot, although the phone has the latest Walkman 4.0 player with skins support, heaps of other options, auto-focus 5 MP camera, new toys, which work in conjunction with a motion sensor on the front. To cut it short, it is an entertainment device, in which are connected the opportunities that were previously tried to be carried on the class segments. Yari opens the line of Entertainment Unlimited, this is not a leader, but a massive machine, with a reasonable price, while it is competing with already existing models like the Sony Ericsson W995 considering lower prices, and other technical characteristics

Sony Ericsson W995 is a higher price segment, this phone is as expensive as Yari, and as Aino at startup, but Satio is just another topic, it is a smartphone media flagship. Yari would cost about 15 thousand rubles at the start of sales (adjustment are possible, all depends on the euro), it will be mass produced in September and October, and only one competitor device can be mentioned – Nokia N85. Let’s see how these solutions will coexist with each other.
There were many comments on the design of the device, some consider it related to recent smart-phones Nokia Nseries, particularly, N85. I note that there indeed are similarities, but I cannot say that it is a copy. Slider with rounded ends, glossy plastic, big screen – that are all the similar features. If you put those two devices near each other, you will see comparable dimensions, materials and front panel. However, I am sorry for such a comparison, Nokia 6300 was similar to the T610i is much more than Yari to N85 now. The main thing is that both solutions are good.

The front panel is a high quality glossy black plastic. There are also white and pink color schemes, which should be an interesting option for girls. Dimensions and weight of the slider are standard, it is not too thin, but well balanced. On the sides there is a rubberized strip, where there are volume buttons. The metal use is minimal, in contrast to the same W995, Yari is lighter and smaller. I liked large control buttons, navigation keys – using which is really comfortable. The navigation buttons and the backlight look good in the dark, ring is beautifully overflew. Above the screen there are two gaming keys, which are, respectively, used in games, as well while using the gallery.
The rear surface is a soft-touch, pleasant to the touch matt plastic. A pleasant thing – stereo loudspeakers are located on the edges of the shell at a sufficient distance, the sound device recalls W395 –it is a good level. Unfortunately there is no shutter of the camera. On the left there is only a corporate jack Fast-Port, and slot for memory cards – right under the plug. By the way, microSD is used here instead of the usual card M2. Reverse surface slider is equipped with a metal cover plate with a beautiful engraving – it is a distinguishing feature of many Sony Ericsson devices.

Sony Ericsson Yari keyboard is traditional, and reminds C905’s. The buttons do not have a clear separation; it is a solid plastic sheet. The keyboard is comfortable to work with. Lightings are of a bright, white color. Yari standard screen is a TFT-matrix with a QVGA-resolution (320×240). Size is 2.4 inches; according to this parameter it is slightly less than the W995. As usual, the screen is of an excellent quality, due to the small physical size the image is smooth and clear. Unfortunately, the unit has no mineral safety glass screen; it is a plastic, which is not so resistant to the appearance of scratches. Above the screen there is a sensor lighting and front camera for video.
After some examination, the slider gives a pleasant impression: quiet design, usual size, functionality standard for this class, new player, and gaming opportunities. The company clearly understands that that many things depend from the final price. For example, the same S903 «dropped in price» much more than it had been planned. So it will not be right to say the exact price of Yari, a lot of things can change.
