At first glance, we face the next reincarnation of the immortal clamshell from Samsung. Compared with the previous variations of the past years this is the company’s hardest commitment to retain the classical form, and for this reason we do not see another attempt to cross the impossible and elegantly elongated body with a minimum of sharp color shots. To fans of accurate data it can be proposed to estimate by eye the size of Samsung S5510, constituting 93,8 x 46,7 x17, 7 mm, that does not speak at all about anything, because of the lower shell width decreases to 4 cm smooth, thick and loses in size about another couple millimeters. It weighs 94 grams.

The interface and customization
Why do you need to know technological details, if S5510 attracts just with its design? That’s it that this was unnecessary, and therefore it’s better take a look at the standby mode of the most recent version of the software of the company for phones without touch screen. Yes, the developers have not forgotten about this, and novelty is all the joy of life that appeared in February in some phones and cost much higher.
Thus, the screen has all sorts of icons and indicators above, as well as the notes to the context keys on top. You can choose any wallpaper or just beautiful watches from LivingWorld.
From the main menu, decorations are already less, and in sections they are not altogether. Of course, there is a fallback position to choose one of three themes, as well as a scattering of other interesting details, but that’s no way impressive.

Calls and correspondence

Calls to Samsung implemented simplest way: dial a phone number, or look for it in convenient call list. The latter method is the most trivial, since reduced to see a list of contacts where there is a search by first letters of the name / surname, or an opportunity to review the whole range of groups. If you need to write a new contact, the owner gave access to a functional editor, which initially disclosed only a quarter of the possible fields in physical files for each of the 1000 possible entries.
Since all messages are somewhat simpler, although there is not only the usual SMS, but also advanced MMS, which is to provide an alternative to email, supports opening / adding attachments.

Connection

Modern mobile phone should not have limited communication abilities, and therefore S5510 is equipped with Bluetooth 2.1 with support for all kinds of profiles, from which we are interested in working with wireless headphones, as well as the possibility of transferring files at speed up to 130 Kbps.
If you connect your phone to PC, data transfer will take place at speed of 2-3 Mbps, which is very bad for a relatively unpretentious model.

Entertainment

Usually we are talking about alarm clocks and little-needed reminders in calendar. Yes, of course, in the case of a business machine strict exterior organizer and office content are extremely relevant, but at S5510 on the alarm for five independent detectors should not go.
But the entertainment portion of the device is failed, and not only by the availability of the full range of GoogleMobile services, but thanks to such fine amenities as RSS news for ease of absorption on your way to work / school, as well as editor of pictures and FM-radio. On top of the list are a few demo versions of games, and also affects the very easy to install Java on your phone.

Music

Here you have a player with all sorts of sorting and convenient playback window, where you can not just change the type of visualization, but also to quickly adjust the equalizer. Configure not to edit, so do not be surprised that you can not adjust manually a good sound in the headphones, because you have to use a ready-made presets.

Camera

For high quality photo Samsung is equipped with a brutal camera phone Pixon12, but for those who want to catch an interesting moment, a 3-megapixel camera hero of this review will be enough. Moreover, there are all the attributes of senior models in the face of full-screen viewfinder and a dozen parameters to set, but also a nimble shutter.

Other trifles

If a good quality signal reception is granted, then nice and loud speaker will be to the point quite, as noisy polyphonic speaker sound is well heard in the room, but on the whole volume on the street disappears somewhere. Well, it does not matter, because there is a disruptive vibro-engine of average power.

Conclusion

In the case of Samsung S5510, we see the triumph of simplicity and consistency of external design of the struggle for the heart of the consumer. Of course, the phone was created by a competitor, but there are so many of those nice details from Samsung, that any price for it is not a pity to give.

If you are looking for a beautiful cover then you’d better not read any further, because here we have a protected phone model Nokia 3720 classic.

Display and keyboard
Nokia 3720 classic is equipped with a 2.2-inch TFT matrix display, with a resolution of 240×320 pixels. It is capable to display 16 million colors, but it does not give us the opportunity to adjust brightness. All this is a bit strange, as there is often the desire to increase, or vice versa, just reduce slightly the brightness of the screen, this is absolutely legal.
Buttons of Nokia 3720 classic are located directly under the screen, which is not surprising. But their execution is a little more interesting, because on a glossy substrate can fit some big holes, of which serve rubberized buttons navigation and digital blocks, the output providing excellent tactility when dialing a number and the message blindly. And the classic five-way navigation key is just to the point. The letters here are large, and in the darkness have pleasant white backlight, a little stretching in pink hues.

Other information

Nokia 3720 classic is equipped with 220 MHz processor, 64 MB RAM, 24 MB internal memory from which 128 MB are at user’s disposal.
So let’s sum up? As a result, there is a sixth edition of S40 platform, as well as all that we have described in the review of Nokia 6303 in May 2009. Once again we will repeat for the completeness of this review.
So, we have an ordinary program filling of S40, which means integration into the active standby mode or limiting the other two types of themes to full-screen wallpaper in standby mode. In menu this factor provides a complete absence of animated icons, but does not restrict the owner in the themes.

Software and games

Nokia 3720 clearly does not fall under the definition of Multifunctional which can do everything, the standard set of programs in the phone is not impressive. On the other hand, like any other product of the sixth edition, there is a lot of what was in the same Nokia 6500, and it is with these programs, it makes sense to start a description. And here is a similar virtual repository of all things, but in the performance of Nokia. Given the fact that the camera in the phone plays a more entertaining role, the service is much more likely to be demanded for the owner.

Communication and Music

As follows from the positioning of 3720, it doesn’t support third-generation networks, it remains only to mention support for GSM 900/1800/1900.
The phone has a traditional Bluetooth-module with support for dozens of profiles. With headset the device works quite stable, and the data transfer rate is 160 Kbps.
Connecting to a PC is carried out through the USB-connector, to which you can connect a tiny cable and evaluate the speed of read / write information to a memory card, which reaches 1.2 Mbps.
Interface of media player has not undergone any significant changes in comparison with the fifth edition of S40, so to understand the inconvenience of working with the library of tracks, updated within minutes the background is not difficult.
Among the player is worth emphasizing the presence of repeat and random play, the effect of enhanced stereo, and an effective 5-band equalizer, with which it is possible to get good results.

Camera

Of course, choosing protected from the vicissitudes of fate phone, you will hardly look for mirrors. Because the camera in the mobile phone is needed strictly for entertainment, or demonstration of pictures to friends on a tiny screen of the device, or sending pictures via MMS or Bluetooth.
Don’t agree with this approach in the case of 3720? Alas, a 2 megapixel camera has an average quality, albeit with a useless flash / weak flashlight, which is better not to use at night. But here working with the camera is quite convenient, thanks to full-screen viewfinder with all kinds of signatures on the edges, as well as useful features tab on the left soft-key.

Conclusion
For this cost there is almost no alternative for Nokia 3720 classic, without taking into account the equivalent of where something is not enough, especially for fans of “dialers” of the Finnish manufacturer. Perhaps, you shouldn’t buy this device, if it is important to save the usual S40 in the case, which will last at least a year?

Strange things take place in the kingdom of Sony Ericsson. Having developed a good platform, the company washes everything on its way in search of gold nuggets. If you want to buy an inexpensive, but functional Sony Ericsson of clamshell format, you will inevitably find yourself in the fork of choice – W710i or Z710i? Let’s discuss everything together.

Design
The first thing that the manufacturer has changed, separating device into “music” and “normal” is a color solution. This is perhaps the weakest point of Z710i. Walkman was painted in the standard for the brand colors: gray, white and orange. Version Z tries to look stern, but without wearing expensive “clothes”.
When you look at Sony Ericsson Z710i, you want to compare it with a luxury Korean car, especially for the domestic market. Yes, they are made good, sometimes even cute, but in the background of the Europeans they seem to be a rattle. In other words Z710i was born as a Walkman, and plastic surgery wasn’t very successful. If we consider Z version separately from W, the image becomes less dark, but it is not still colorful to call Z710i a beautiful phone. It is difficult even to say that the model is not to the point: antenna, chrome, blue backlighting of the keyboard, or all together.
The hallmark antenna-arc in Sony Ericsson Z710i looks absolutely ridiculous. Imagine Maybach 62 with spoiler “dream watermelon Baron”, and you will feel the comic structure.
You will get used to design features, but I don’t think that it will be interesting for you to get used to the screaming colors. How I love the orange color, however, it is very eccentric for everyday devices such as mobile phone. But perhaps this is a matter of taste.

Display
Almost all the rest, the model Z and W are similar to each other that will not prevent us through this maze. External displays are identical, both phones have 1.5 inches (128×128 pixels), which look very solid, especially considering the amount of shell – 88×48x24, 5mm.
Small screen and monochrome models are distinguished by the fact that in Z series supports 4 shades of gray, and W has the same, but with an orange backlight.
The internal display does not produce such a favorable impression as the front one; its dimensions are quite standard – 1.9 inch (176×220 pixels). The TFT-display shows up to 262 thousand colors.
Display has ideal contrast and sharp, with excellent viewing angles. The quality of the screen is comparable with the older models of the company, and in their price range if not given something supernatural, then, at least, nothing inferior to the best representatives of the market.

Keyboard
On other side of the external display there are keys to work with MP3-player in the closed position. Actually the huge display is enough to work with the player. The left side is a place for keys which activate the camera (in the closed position it does not work) and paired “rocker” to adjust the volume.
When the phone is closed, the “minus” shows planned for the current affairs events, and if you click the plus sign, then the important information is displayed by phone: profile, your contacts, and battery power in percentage ( convenient and accurate).
On the right end there are keys which are responsible for locking the phone when it is closed.
With characteristic click, opening the phone, we’ll see buttons – big and small. All of them separately or together are already familiar.
Standard handsets there, took their place, two soft keys, an excellent job with their roles. Below there is a key “return” and “C”. The entire keyboard is made in typical Sony Ericsson style. And only navigational key somehow gets out of the context, W710i, definitely looks more organic. Numeric keys are medium in size, but due to the division into three blocks and a clear course to work with text, or simply dial the number comfortably.

MP3-player
With all the similarities and differences, consumers are interested in one thing – music features. Engineers went to indirect ploys that artificially divided the model. So in Z710i there is no profile A2DP, which puts an end to stereo Bluetooth-headsets.
Thus, the player is simplified, but not fatal.
Yes, a little about the FM-radio. With it we understand what praise for the quality of reception and ease of use is.
The main difference will be the headset. In W710i there is a stereo headset HPM-65, while Z710i has only HPM-60. During the test, I stepped on the Headset HPM-70, which fell out from somebody’s pocket, as the number of citizens in a narrow street, I did my best to return it to its rightful owner but I couldn’t. Since both models have a standard connector Fast Port so we tested with the headset of Z710i.
The output will not be comforting for the Walkman, with a good headset Z710i is not inferior to his brother in terms of musical sound and plays a couple of specific functions.

Multimedia
In this regard, telephones Z and W differ only by a lack of the first section of Fitness and all that is associated with it. Otherwise, as you know, there are no changes. Both phones support EDGE, Bluetooth (2.0, EDR, but without A2DP in Z version), Infrared, Java, themes, radio, powerful organizer and other functions of a modern phone. Both devices also have the support of Memory Stick Micro (M2) card.
Here lies the second major difference in W710i it has only 64MB. Hot-swappable memory card is not provided; it is implemented in the “warm” form. When changing the memory card you have to remove the battery cover.
Internal memory is 10 MB. As before, the device provides a convenient work with files of phone card, or simultaneously with all together.
Another distinctive feature of Sony Ericsson phones has become a function of multitasking. Player, games, calculator – all these and many other applications can run together.
Organizer and work with contacts are made on a solid top five.

Camera
Cameras in phones differ only in the presence of the mirror at Z version. All other features are standard for phones of this class. CMOS, 2 megapixel, autofocus and the lack of an acceptable quality of images, 2.5-fold-digital zoom. Maximum resolution of the image is 1600×1200 pixels, the average size photo is about 400 Kb. It has standard settings like white balance, and a few simple effects.

Video can be recorded in high quality and for MMS which means the resolution at 176×144 and 128×96 pixels, respectively.

Conclusion
As you can see, the differences between W710i and Z710i are cosmetic, just for a marketing purpose. Today the difference between a Walkman and Z is about 2000 rubles. For this money you can still easily buy a 512MB memory card and a good headset like HPM-70. This is in case you need something not orange, but the extent of solid music phone. Our sample even though it was an engineering one, worked very steadily.
710i is equipped with a Li-Pol battery with capacity of 900 mAh that’s just supports the work of up to 3 days in the active mode without problems, but if you choose the mode with disabled GPRS-module, then up to 5 days.
As a result, we have two absolutely equivalent apparatus. Choose with eyes, most of the major differences can be easily compensated.

Nokia N93i is a legitimate and the only heiress of the mighty mobile phone Nokia N93.
It seems that developers did the fans a favor and reduced the size of this “hero”. In addition, they have made it more stylish, using the mirror faceplate.

Design and keyboard

From a first glance differences between N93i and N93 are visible. First of all keyboard has undergone changes, it has become flatter. I immediately remembered TONKOMOTO, however, it is clear that for the sake of reducing the thickness of the shell the manufacturer has made some sacrifice.
I must confess that convenience is not added, and vice versa – it has been dramatically reduced.
To quickly dial a number you should be a very clever man, otherwise you will be mistaken. In addition, the flat navigation button often brings in games such as arcade-shooter. You need to make a maneuver to evade enemy missiles carrying the death, and then … your finger hits the key “Menu”. Most often this happens in the most crucial moment.
Of course, you can easily go back, but the sediment from a failed mission remains.
At the ends are placed cover up for pop-connector and a slot for memory cards. I must say that now they are made of plastic instead of rubber and foul in their places, as the previous model.
However, the changes are purely cosmetic, but it in some way makes the device more convenient.

Displays
Unlike N93, Nokia N93i has a new external display. This is OLED, displaying 65 thousand colors, but it is almost monochrome.
Images can be seen well even on the reflective surface. Information is readable on a sunny day, unless the mirror surface begins flashing. At the service displays quite standard information. This time, signal is strengthened and battery level, painted with an elegant curve. Of course, in case of an incoming call screen displays the name and number, as well as the image of a shaking phone.
The internal display with a resolution of 240×320 looks like something brighter than the analogue in N93.
Under direct sunlight the brightness was not enough and images were “fading”. Just at hand was Sony Ericsson K810, on the display of which the information could be read much better.

Camera
As it is known, camera is the main advantage of N93i. Otherwise why it is equipped with such a big lens, a rotating display, optics by Carl Zeiss? Since the entire filling remained unchanged, then expecting some difference in picture quality is senseless, but … it is only at first glance.
Based on our own feelings I can tell you that the speed and ease of control during the shooting have not been changed.
Personally, I do not like the delay somewhere between the shutter and recording in memory of the finished picture. In other words, if you took a photo of a child fidget, then 50% of marriage is guaranteed. The quality of images is slightly worse, because of the lack of sharpness. It is not too noticeable, but if you look closely … Shooting with flash is a strange occupation.
Personally, I thought that clips shot with the help of this novelty are slightly worse. The colors are not very natural. Honestly, I do not like to shoot video with a phone camera, but I liked shooting quality of N93.
There is a cable to connect the phone to the TV. For example, video is easier to watch on the big screen. Image quality of course depends on the skill of the operator, but in general – successful commercials look good.

Additional functions
As in N93, this novelty supports Wi-Fi. I confess that I quickly connected N93i with known Wi-Fi-points. Sometimes the indicator simply indicates a low signal, and at that time quite ancient notebook Dell, worked for a sweet soul, with the level of 80-85%.
Download speed of a 4,5 MB file via Bluetooth is 52-58 kB / s, which is rather good.
Player gives juicy sound; the headset has quite decent quality. It can run in the background. Radio works without problems: in the city it is caught well enough, in the suburbs – a little worse.

Conclusion
Nokia N93i is a funny, somewhere even a status phone. Having such a phone people will immediately begin to respect you as this is an expensive, fancy “device”, and in its segment it is even better. If you already own N93, then there is no need to trade for a letter “i”, because you will not get anything new, but money will be certainly saved.

Samsung continues to delight fans of thin tubes who are concerned about every free millimeter in the pocket of their jacket or jeans. For them Koreans have launched a logical continuation of a monoblock X820, which was supposed to be named X840, but marketers know it as U100, and now it has entered into a new line of ultra thin phones.

Design
So, a very thin model of the last year has become thinner by 1 mm, which is certainly a pleasant trifle.
When you take this phone in hand for the first time, it seems that an awkward movement and something may happen to the device. But, in reality, Samsung U100 a couple of times was overthrown on the floor, once U100 found itself on the ground, and in general – this was over with a hardly noticeable scratch.
The phone is strong due to ferrule on the phone. It is painted the same color as the shell. I do not know if it will protect in a really critical moment, but it certainly looks nice.
Striving for minimum thickness, the developers have removed all “unnecessary” things from the ends. By reducing they got a slot for microSD cards. Here is left only a volume rocker, camera button and a connector for the charger or USB-cable.
If anyone thinks that the phone has a touch keyboard, he/she will be wrong.
There is no problem with dialing, but the navigation button requires skill and addiction.
The reason is simple – in accordance with the ideas of “thin “, it is not raised above the surface and its direction palpated with difficulty.

Appliances
In essence, Samsung U100 is the continuation of X820 not only in terms of design, but also in terms of functionality. I do not want to play “find 10 differences”. U100 – is a revised X820.
In Samsung U100 there is a horizontal TFT-LCD with a resolution of 220×176. Judging from the test images, the screen can be described as a pretty decent one, though small viewing angles are sometimes forced to keep the tube straight.
Behavior of the screen under the sun is also adequate, since the menu icons and text can be seen well; the colors fade a little bit.
Menu is well-known from other devices of Samsung. I personally like more concise design, which is in the tubes, based on the platform D500.

As U100 is a thin assistant of business people, there is a notebook for 1000 contacts with the ability to record five numbers, e-mail addresses, notes, and the choice of individual melodies and ringtones. It seems nothing extraordinary, but the convenience of using is worth noting.
Voice recorder limits the recording time by one hour, that is more than enough, and memory for 100 events in the organizer will not be filled in one day.
Data transfer speed via BlueTooth from PC to Samsung is about 50 Kbps.
In that case, if you are fond of talking regularly, climb on the menu, often use calendar, from time to time take photos, the battery will last for two days.

Functions for entertainment
Samsung U100 is equipped with a 3 MP camera – a legitimate question arises – whether it is better than a 2-megapixel brother X820? As for the size of the picture, it is more accurate, but the quality is slightly higher comparing the shots. It seems that they are a little sharper, and the remaining is the same.
MP3-player is also known as peeling, as its interface and capabilities are already well known. From the innovations we can only recall the work in the background and support for Bluetooth-A2DP profile to work with stereo headset. The sound quality of the player (of the phone, in general) is good; the volume is enough for most cases, except a very noisy street and subway.
To some extent there is no FM-radio, as the built-in memory can not keep many songs, but fans of music would like to listen to a fresh hit from beloved singers.

Conclusion
As a worthy successor of the model X820, Samsung U100, to some extent repeats its fate, becoming famous, but it remained a niche product, which will not be found in every pocket. In general, the device is quite successful, mainly because of the minimum thickness and business design. U100 can not boast with functionality but it wasn’t the aim of the manufacturer. Samsung focused only on the dimensions of the shell.

Nokia 6290 novelty is not an innovation. All these components we have seen in the earlier models, but compared to other phones the main plus of 6290 is completeness.
Nothing is semi-finished. There are really all the necessary functions to ensure convenience and comfort. The phone is very good both from a technical and design standpoint and you possibly would think that 6290 is deprived of the very identity, for which we love Nokia, but do not worry. You need just to look at it closely.

Design
Making a smart phone cot is not a simple task for the whole team. Size, dimensions, weight – all this must be combined with each other in digestible proportions. In the case the team of Nokia 6290 worked wonderfully. Weighting 115 grams is a very good indicator for a smart phone on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1. In fact Nokia 6290 is a continuation of the successful model Nokia 6260, or in other words – clever cot in the middle price range.
The company is positioning the novelty as a “device for energetic professionals who live not only in business” and should admit it has everything needed for this. Matte lacquer paint (in black) gives the right of association, for example, even with the piano.
From a technical point of view, the back cover is made of opaque plastic, but it spoils the impression a bit. Otherwise, all the elements in their part will fit into the overall picture.
It is worth noting that two stereo speakers of impressive size are located at the ends of the phone, as well as a volume key and access to the PTT.
Particularly gratifying to find on the sides of two closed-doors connector plugs for memory cards and mini-USB, the latter has a gold-plated contacts, as well as SIM-card holder.
Dimensions (94 × 50 × 20,8 mm) of Nokia 6290 are standard, but the horizontal unit is somewhat less than usual. As a result, in the closed position it is perceived as something long and narrow, but eventually you get used to it, and the discomfort disappears.

Keyboard
Returning to the already mentioned buttons on the ends of 6290, it is worth noting that they are quite strict, which almost completely eliminates accidental pressing. Besides the external controls 6290 has three buttons below the display, to access the desired functions. By default, this is a player, music library and radio. In addition, they can be used to turn off the ringing tone, reject calls, and much more.
While opening the phone, we see a standard set of keys for S60. The navigation unit consists of two soft keys, menu, “C”, Quick Cover keys, and the four-key input in the middle. As you can see there is nothing new. All buttons are large and well located, which allows you to quickly navigate through menus or perform certain operations.
The numeric keypad will also need to “taste” your fingers. Large, well-defined keys have excellent ergonomics. Quick SMS, text notes typed with pleasure. The keyboard gets an honored setoff.

Display
A good screen is at least the required attribute for S60. In the case of 6290 we have a TFT-matrix with 2.2 inch diagonal (320×240 pixels) display supports up to 16 million colors.

The screen is very juicy and bright, well behaved in the sun (sometimes fades, but the information remains readable). The display has a small mirror property, due to this picture it is filled with color; and paint acquire the brightness, but the only minus is that there is not much, but affects the surrounding space.
As for the external display, it just carried on TFT-technology, has the physical size of 1.36. (28 × 160 pixels) and displays up to 262 000 colors. Display is somewhat pale, but copes with its tasks quite well.

Multimedia
Although Nokia 6290 has come to us from the world of business devices, it is endowed with rich multimedia capabilities. There is a powerful MP3-player (handy headset in Nokia HS-47 in the set), Stereo FM-radio and even if not necessary, but

Visual Radio.
Even the stereo speakers can be safely attributed to the media, because the volume and sound quality is enough to organize a mini-disco. The phone supports Java MIDP 2.0.
The first game is a successful reincarnation of “snake”. It should be noted that this game (Snakes) has long been available for free download, but its existence by default can rejoice everyone.
The second game is a great gift to all lovers of the game Zuma. In 6290 it is installed under the name of an analog Marble, ideological and repeats the principles laid down in Zuma. Both games have excellent addictive properties and dynamics.
User has only 45Mb memory at his/her disposal, however, you can install a microSD memory card up to 2 GB.

Functions
As usually happens with smart phones, the model 6290 is, if not at the height of functional perfection, somewhere very near. Traditionally, for Symbian, user receives useful organizer with an indescribable collection of features, a phone book and even a wagon with all possible functions. For example, a program of World-Mate standard.
With it you can view the time once in five cities of the world, check currency rates, weather and even the state of the flight.
Synchronization takes place through the Internet, and thanks to the developers of MobiMate this procedure has a minimum traffic.
It has also applications such as Adobe PDF or Quick-Office (combining Word, Excel and so on).

Connection abilities
I got surprised when I saw never “dying” IR port on the right end of the phone. In addition, 6290, of course, is equipped with new means of communication. Connecting via the above miniUSB (the ability to synchronize with a computer using the Nokia PC Suite via USB and Bluetooth), grown up to 2.0 Bluetooth version (profiles SIM Access, Headset and Handsfree), local and remote data synchronization via the cellular network to connect to the Internet through GPRS , multislot class 32, EGPRS Multislot class 32, the standard WCDMA (3GPP Release 99).
As you can see from the following, for nirvana network only Wi-Fi is not enough.
In addition, with additional camera (CIF +) it is possible to arrange video calls.

Camera
The time-proven 2-megapixel camera with built-in flash is perfectly blended both in design, and in the functional group of 6290.
The maximum size of the image is not difficult to guess – 1600×1200. There are three levels of quality of the images, white balance, color tone, night photography, photo series mode and auto-timer. For the second camera maximum resolution is 320×240 and it is ideal for self-portraits. In addition, it also records video with a resolution of 176×144 pixels. The main camera also supports recording up to 320×240 inclusive (not such a hot result for a 2MP camera).
Gradually Nokia became more serious about its phone cameras, so in 6290 there is a horizontal navigation on the main features of the camera, which is very nice and comfortable.

Images obtained have quite a decent level, of course, if you shoot in sunny weather. Viewing them on phone or computer, the quality should be satisfactory.

Conclusion

Nokia 6290 is not a bad phone. The user must like the speed of work and the overall stability of the system. This unit is definitely for people who appreciate the phone stability. From a single charge (Battery Nokia BL-5F Li-ion 950mA * h) at MTS phone worked for three days of active use (hour of games and listening to music), and 30 minutes of calls a day.

Nokia E61i is a typical case of “fixing the mistakes”, redesign and technical re-equipment of an existing model phone, which either had a lack of popularity among users, or experienced a shortage of certain functions necessary for the phones of its class.
In our case, the initial model was already familiar to consumers as E61; can not say that this unit met a cold reception in the market, or suffered from obvious technical deficiencies. The audience kept E61 with confidence, but it’s time to freshen up the attention of several potential customers, updating both the “stuffing” of the phone, and its design.
As with the previous model, E61i is made on the notebook form factor, and is equipped with a full alphanumeric keyboard, as well as the platform continues to be from the undying Series 60, which has, I think, just an inexhaustible reserve of strength.

Design
With regard to the design of Nokia E61i, then, at a first glance, it has undergone no major changes. Some changes have been made in color palette thanks to which the device began to look more stylish (which is quite important).
But if you take Nokia E61i in hands, it will be felt that the device is thinner than its predecessor. Very little, maybe a couple millimeters, but for such an impressive body size, even such savings (in the first place it has been achieved by reducing the size of the battery) are noticeable – in fact E61i supposed to wear in a jacket pocket, where extra space is not enough.
And that’s the main thing – it would not only fit, but it does not bulge. By the way, the developers replaced at the same time and covered the internal compartment – now it is made of durable metal alloy.

Keyboard
The keyboard has been changed greately; it is interesting that the new owners have to re-type the text as those users who are not familiar with predecessor, Nokia E61i, and the owners of this model.
This is primarily due to the fact that the developers have changed the size of the alphanumeric keys. Previously, they were more flat and wide, in E61i surface of each button has decreased, but its height – on the contrary, was slightly increased.
A couple of days working with Nokia E61i, typing speed went into the familiar rhythm.
Even the navigation keys changed more radically, and these changes are only welcomed. Vanished joystick, which is not only quite distracting from the overall design of the phone, but was not too easy to use, and has been replaced by a more familiar flat four-position key.
In addition to it, as well as two traditional context keys and buttons receive a call, and rebound in the navigation unit has four buttons for quick access to particular functions – a notebook, the main menu of the operating system (that is, of course, Simbian 9.1) and a message center.
The fourth button allows the owner to use it as he/she wants – for example, it may start the organizer, or some frequently used applications.

Display and Camera
E61i screen is positioned horizontally – another feature, designed to facilitate the work with text documents. Specifications of the display remained the same; it is based on a matrix that supports the resolution of QVGA (240×320 pixels) in full color (16 million) mode.
Depending on the application simultaneously on the screen may appear eight lines of text, in most cases this is enough for comfortable work. If you switch to a smaller font (eg, utility for reading books), the eyes begin to be tense. On the other hand, the screen in the traditional spirit of Nokia is made in a bright and high-contrast, it is very tolerant under bright summer sun, and working with it is a real pleasure.
Yes, and look at a video display much more convenient than a phone with a vertical layout. However, E61i has somewhat a different purpose.
The camera, which was completely absent in E61, appeared in E61i. The latter is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, but its lack in E61 was felt all the time.

Now the problem is solved, and users must remain satisfied, it is worth noting that, despite the dimensions of the shell, the owner can easily take photos.
E61i in size is closer to today’s handheld digital cameras. It has 2 GB memory thanks to microSD cards.
Of course, you need to remove the metal cover, but it’s better than the removal of the battery.
Actually, potential buyers of E61i are interested in its software. First and foremost it is worth emphasizing that the phone supports a wide range of data protocols: here and quad band of GSM-transmitter, and GPRS to WCDMA, and more local Bluetooth (up to 62-65 kb / s), Wi-Fi and infrared.

Due to this, the owner of E61i will feel comfortable both in urban spaces, and the corporate information environment. By the way, E61i supports connectivity to gateways and Blackberry.
Communication functions of E61i include the primarily work with e-mail, with the device supporting push email (but it needs support from the server, as well as the need to install the gateway software – but it’s freely downloaded from the Nokia web site). There is a the default mode, the phone itself is drawn to the mail server through POP3 or (more correctly, but, again, depends on the configuration of the server) IMAP at given intervals. Of course, the user can check mail from multiple mailboxes.
Large advantage of Nokia E61i is ease of setup. All parameters are automatically determined immediately after receiving a service message from the operator; e-mail, of course, is not counted, you have to manually configure it, but it takes a few minutes including the procedure for checking server availability and accuracy of a login and password. As a Web browser using the clone Web Core – one of the best mobile solutions to date, the new version which includes a built-in RSS-agent, perhaps it is not as convenient as special programs, but does not require installing any additional software.
Synchronizing with your computer, as usual with Nokia, is using Communication Suite, which disk is attached to the phone. Although the relationship can be established from the infrared port or Bluetooth, a sales kit includes USB-cable.

For business people
In addition to communication applications E61i has already “charged” business applications, first among which is QuickOffice – a package that supports the work with text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations compatible with products from Microsoft Office programs and lets you edit these documents.
To read PDF-files, the phone has a mobile version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. In addition, the device insertion includes such traditional applications as editor and organizer reminders that support data exchange with Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Outlook. To search for files (still a big flash card of their climbs abound) the owner of E61i can use the built-in file manager, but to save space – Archiver ZIP.
In addition to business applications on the phone there is an already installed standard music player, and RealPlayer to view streaming video from the Internet and Flash Player, reproducing animation clips.
Games can not be found in memory of E61i, but given a fair amount of entertainment software for the S60 platform. The owner can download them on network. He/she can also download other useful software (maps of world time, the weather around the world, and a voice recorder, without limitation records of one minu te).

Conclusion
Nokia E61i leaves an impression of a real business device without any “vignettes”, “flowers”, “Amusement Park” in the form of toys, a separate button for the player, a powerful audio player. In return there is a function designed to help, if you’re out of office, without a laptop on your knees, but the presentation must be read, however, like to work with e-mail. And of course, build quality, elegant design and a long battery life.

Phone for a business man is not just a communication tool; it’s a loyal assistant and a thing that determines his status in the eyes of colleagues. Keen style in design and technology, have a right approach to choosing a business phone.
Let’s take, for example, the new Fly B600. I think it’s a worthy candidate.

Design
The phone designed for a business man must meet certain standards of mobile dress code, without pretentiousness and brightness. The device should not attract attention. All these requirements and wishes fully correspond to a new Fly B600 business mobile phone.
The dimensions of this phone are 110×49x14 mm. Weight is also proportional: only 110 grams. The device easily fits in pockets of trousers or a jacket.
The front panel is made of a high-quality plastic. The back part of Fly B600 is made of a soft (it seems rubberized) plastic. Camera protrudes from the shell and has no cover. Thus, you will have to put the phone either on screen or on the lens of the camera – decide which one you need less.
I think that serious buyers can find any drawback in this phone.

Display
Asian manufacturers have accustomed us to the fact that their phones have displays above average. And if you’re skeptical you expect good performance from the screen of B600 but I have to disappoint you. Executed on TFT-technology, the display shows up to 260 thousand colors and has resolution of 240×320 pixels (2.4 inches). As a result, the screen takes up the most space; keypad and the speaker are simply lost in the background.
The first thing that your eye catches is that the display is very, even too bright. But the real shock comes after a short jogging on the settings. Colors are juicy and bright, the image is perceived well, did not catch on for anything. Such a display is perfect for working with text and calendar.
The only thing that upset me are its viewing angles. They are sufficient for comfortable work; however, the image is badly tarnished vertical even when rejecting a couple of degrees.

Keyboard
Dark and light gray buttons harmoniously complement each other.
The screen took so much space that the bottom row of keys, could hardly find a place, and moved gracefully as the fourth column in the right lane. Of course, such a decision is unusual for most users, but it is not so critical that the next day at the level of reflexes fingers themselves find the right path.
Buttons should be sufficient for comfortable work, have an average course and allow you to quickly and carelessly work with any text.
Additional controls are buttons to access the camera on the right end (horizontal shooting mode) and the usual rocker for volume control, on the left side. In addition, one should mention the three connectors (they are all closed strong enough plugs) – expansion slot for memory cards microSD, mini-USB (it also serves to connect the charger) and 2.5-mm headphone input (TV-out).

Menu
The menu of Chinese phone is almost always quiet horror. No eastern colors, all is very succinctly.
The main menu shows 12 icons; with the upper line the system information is available in both the substantive and in any sub-menu. Chapters are arranged quite comfortably and that is important – it is logical. There was only one question. It is unclear why the album is under “Entertainment”, but Video album in “Multimedia”. Agree that it can be called only a minor drawback.
Separately I want to note the high level of localization is another issue of Asian phones. All menu items are transferred without errors, absurd reductions as a result of which it is impossible to understand. Well, the font is very nice; the eyes do not get tired.

Functions
Although we have determined that this phone is suitable for business people. Thus the phone should support applications which business man needs. First, it is an organizer. Menu of Fly B600 consists of a calendar, tasks, alarm and world time. Calendar is comfortable enough, you can assign notes (point of the problem “duplicate this feature, and made, apparently for faster access) to the date and time, while adjusting items such as: light, repetition, timing, number of repetitions. The only drawback of the calendar is the weekly view.
The user provides three independent alarms, each of them can choose the time (including on the day).
Business phone should have a convenient phone book. Again, and this parameter B600 demonstrates enviable results.
Your phone can store up to 1000 contacts together with name and number there are 5 additional fields of information where you can indicate birth date and picture, video clip, tune and add to the user group.
The phone book displays contacts, both from the internal memory, and located on the SIM-card.

As we see, business indicators of the phone are up to date. But there are also additional functions. For example, an MP3 player with good mid-level (headset included, but the 2.5 mm input lets you connect via an adapter and more serious headphones).
There is FM-radio, a simple photo editor, composer, Java (games and programs in Java is not preinstalled), calculator, converter units and currencies.
But what is most interesting is that this phone has some exceptional abilities. First recall the aforementioned TV-out (cable included). Easily connecting your phone to your TV provides great opportunities for both presentations and to view photos in the family.
By connecting the telephone to a computer via miniUSB cable (included, but not with a standard connector), you’ll see a menu of three items: use your phone as a modem, a flash-drive or as Web-camera.

Fans of honor on the road will appreciate the availability of reading “electronic books”. Settings are enough for comfortable reading. Of course, you can find a replacement in the ranks of Java-applications, but the existence of such a function is inherent, whatever one may say, plus.
Finally comes the function that you’ve encountered only in smartphones running Symbian and then as an alternative software. This is the background sound, overlay tube during a call. You can adjust the volume, duration and interval. You can choose from 10 preset or 10 of your (possible record with voice recorder) ringtones.
When you activate this feature you can lay on the couch, honestly say that standing there in traffic and the phone will simulate car horns, noise, uproar, and all that you want. Of course, it’s not fair, but – rather funny.
You can connect your phone with the rest of the world through the miniUSB cable, Bluetooth 1.2 (support SPP, DUN, OPP, FTP, A2DP profiles, and remote control) and GPRS (WAP 2.0, built-in POP / SMTP-client).

Camera
A 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus is already a matter of respect, though photos are not of the best quality.
As we have already mentioned, you shoot in a horizontal position.
The camera cannot turn into a camcorder. The latter is a separate program and is available from the “Multimedia” menu. Rollers can record the entire free memory at resolutions 176×144 and 352×288. Codecs are MPEG4 and H.263. Video has good quality, it is quite enough for viewing on the phone and share with friends. As for the camera, it works very slowly. When shooting with a maximum resolution (2048×1536 pixels) by pressing the capture button to direct the photograph, is about a second or two, during which you are sure to slightly move the phone, and this guarantees blurry picture.
It is noteworthy that when shooting from 1600×1200 and less, you can not notice such things. There is a problem with low productivity of the processor.
You can save your photos or video in 87 MB internal memory and microSD memory card (not included) up to 2GB.

Conclusion
Even though the phone has two stereo speakers, it is virtually inaudible in the city noise.
The situation could partly rescue the vibration, but it is very weakly expressed, as in the pocket of pants, it is hardly felt.
It is very uncomfortable to type SMS-message. For example, standard things such as capital letter after full stop.
You can find a few more minor soft-roughness and irregularities. But let us remember the low price of the novelty above opportunities. Thanks to TV-out all the deficiencies can be forgiven at once.
Despite the huge display, Li-Ion battery (940 mAh) copes with its task. Telephone works up to 4 days at 20 minutes of talking time and use of various functions. But even with such a very decent performance, the manufacturer added the supplied spare battery, just on the safe side.
As a result, Fly B600 is very pleasant and worth much money. If you want a modern, reliable, functional assistant in the cheap price range, Fly B600 definitely can rightly be considered one of the best mobile phones.

Release of a mobile phone, like any other mass product, is a very fascinating process. At the beginning of induction the manufacturer defines the framework of engineers and designers who will work on the novelty. A number of factors play a significant role in its final appearance like a platform, price category, design and much more.
At each stage of development we must try to cope with the flight of fantasies and eventually land on the desired results.
In the industrial design people are servants of the convention. There are rare cases of cooperation of companies with well-known designers, as a rule, they create interesting, but uncomfortable phones.
Nevertheless, there is an interesting question – what would happen if you take the gurus of design and place it in a golden cage, entitled “Express Yourself”. The answer to this question in the literal sense of the word “lies” on the surface. Moreover, it has a name – Samsung E590.

In creation Samsung E590 was actively involved by an English designer Jasper Morrison. Morrison design is called an “honest simplicity,” and his work in the media is defined as “no-design”.
That’s why he is so loved in Asia: for those people he is a kind of an English Zen. He has a philosophy of silence, modesty and diligence. The “Jasper Morrison Ltd.” company is engaged in the development of furniture, appliances and everything that surrounds a human in everyday and working life.
Now you know who has worked on innovation from Samsung under the number E590, and nothing prevents us to start our review with the traditional section, which, due to circumstances, acquires a deeper meaning.

Design
If nobody knew who has participated in the development of Samsung E590, the novelty would be considered as a regular, albeit high-quality creation of designers from Seoul. It should be noted that when testing we had black version of E590, but in its white incarnation phone looks rather interesting. Moreover, there is information that Morrison has created just the white version, and the black analog is already a conditional mass product.
Nevertheless, Samsung E590 is a monoblock with medium by today’s standards size (94×42x14 mm) and fairly solid weight – 95 grams.
There are no interesting discoveries and solutions in the form E590 seemingly unable to grasp – minimalism is everywhere. Another amusing fact is that the designer worked on the characteristics, positioning, as well as telephone. We are used to design devices of thousands of dollars and above. Now we obviously have to get used to the idea that there are phones from the world of avant-garde design and they cost four times less than usual.

Display
The screen is the face of each phone. In the case of Samsung E590 there is no need to worry – excellent TFT-LCD with decent for modern phone features – 260 thousand colors with 220×220 pixels resolution.
Static and dynamic image is flooded with paint.
It has many drawbacks. First, it has almost catastrophic vertical viewing angles. The slightest deviation from the straight line fades the whole picture.
Secondly, under the sun it’s impossible to identify the image. It is not comfortable to work with the phone on the street.

Keyboard
All the buttons on the phone are made in one style – in oval shape. System and digital buttons have the same size, thus they are perceived as a single array.
There are two soft control buttons, “the tube” and “C” key. All symbols of white (pale gray) color, however, we have already met in the phones of Samsung. Bright lights and milky-white fine finishes E590.
With regard to navigation and work, the first is implemented by using a small joystick, and the second is quite nice and comfortable.
Additional buttons are extensively represented at the right end of the phone and all are designed to work with the camera. “Mode” button will quickly adjust the camera, two-position button starts the camera in a small size, but the usability is not affected. For the “Zoom” function there is also a separate button.
On the left side there is a rocker-volume control as well as headphone input, battery and memory card slot. It’s simple, familiar and comfortable.

Menu and Functions
Samsung E590 is built on the platform of Suwon and it can be considered the ancestor of D900. The main menu consists of nine icons and moving between them is pleasantly animated.
The user is allowed to choose from two color schemes – white and black.

Using the menu is intuitive, logically laid out all the possibile sections. The effect of “memory” (if the “Organizer” you came to the position of “Calculator”, you will go ibid.) should come to taste of many users. It has a navigation with the support of a digital keyboard, pop-ups and cross-cutting scrolling easier access to desired functions.

Functions and features are not presented absolutely without surprises. Everything is done in the style of Samsung. If you have ever worked with the devices of this brand, you will find familiar and very comfortable for daily use the organizer, alarm clock function (3 pieces), a decent MP3-player, voice recorder, photo editor, FM-radio, Bluetooth 2.0 and Java-based applications.
Samsung continues the practice of trial applications, so all the most interesting games are available in trial mode, but for a fee. As for the execution of all the above and many unmentioned ones, believe me on the floor during the test there was only one trouble. We had to quickly write down the address and the arm came across the field “e-mail” editor contacts. It’s bad when the mobile phone considers itself smarter than the owner. Fortunately, such things are extremely rare.

Camera
In many respects the uniqueness of E590 is not only a secondary phone price level, in the work on which are engaged world famous designers, but also in the fact that it is an affordable camera phone.
The matrix has 3-megapixel resolution and autofocus. Again, we can not say one hundred percent (adjusted for a test instance), but the iron is clearly not coping with the appetite of three megapixels. The quality of the pictures is sometimes higher than the Chinese machines’.
Camera settings are enough to really affect the results. ISO settings are from 100 to 400 (auto is available), white balance, effects, frames, macro, timer, multi-shooting and panoramic shots.
With regard to the quality of the images, they are of about the same level with D900, which means that the quality is at a decent level, but not excellent. Was Samsung, positioning the model as a camera phone? Perhaps they know this better.
Photos and video files can be saved in 85 MB of phone memory and on a standard microSD card.

Outcome

Model E590 turned out to be well enough, though there are also controversies. The main advantages, which Samsung emphasizes, are decent design and camera.
I was pleasantly surprised by the battery life. On Li-Ion Battery with capacity of 800 mAh, telephone worked 5 days (up to 20 minutes of conversation and an hour of other functions). Rather high results for such a phone.
We started with an honest expression, it would be logical to finish in the same way. Model E590 is a great phone with a couple of reservations.

Last year Samsung released E900 model of a slider phone. The success of the model depends totally on the price, design and functionality of this mobile phone. These three features are the main characteristics that attract buyers when choosing the phone.
Today we’ll talk about the successor of E900 – J600E primarily designed for women. Modern eye-catching design must come to taste of a every fashionable woman. If we talk about the inner content, it has a solid intermediate level.

Design
Considering Samsung J600E as a whole, while stressing the major pluses, it turns out that the strongest side, of course, is its design. The exterior is certainly designed for women, although to some extent for men too. The four available colors (blue, pink, silver, gray) consider it to be a unisex direction of mobile phones.
Today, ergonomic device can not be expressed in one thing. The dimensions of this mobile phone are quite fashionable: 91×45x18 mm and 99 grams.
As you can see, Samsung J600E is a little bit elongated and narrowed (in the form of rectangle).
In the hand the phone is excellent. The navigation buttons are located above the thumb, so the process of opening this phone should not cause any difficulties.
Returning to the design of Samsung J600E, we’d like to mention the successful combination of slightly shiny metallic colors.
Top, bottom and back of the phone are deprived of any kind of controls, connectors and other things. But on the left side there are slots for charging the battery and headset, shortcut key for the quick access of the camera.
Both slots are closed with plastic plugs which give the impression of a long-playing mechanism. The right side turned on to be “poorer” and can boast only about volume buttons and a memory card slot.

Display
At first sight, the characteristics of the screen J600E look quite decent. Indeed who would have thought that the TFT-matrix with the support of 65 thousand colors and a resolution of 128×160 pixels will disappoint.
The problem lies in the ratio of the diagonal of the display and the resolution. As we can see in J600E, a 1.9-inch screen with 128×160 pixels resolution is very small. Hence there is grainy and generally unpleasant sensation of viewing images.
Many claims about the screen arise when typing and surfing on the menu – the quality of display animations, pictures and photos leave much to be desired. As for the brightness and contrast, there is virtually no claim, moreover taking into account its characteristics they are even good.

Keyboard
Tactile keyboard today does not surprise anybody. However, this feature is still a tasty morsel. In the case of J600E it seems that touch buttons are the only available solutions to the problem of visual excellence.
When the buttons are inactive, they are totally invisible, when the phone is opened or activated by the keyboard, all four sensory start flashing in a pleasant blue color.
Is it convenient to use the touch keypad, or it is just an extravagant whim of the manufacturer? This becomes clear very quickly. The sensitivity of the buttons is high. A light touch is enough. However, during navigation, or when writing messages you can easily press on them, in consequence of which there happens an abolition of the selected operation.
The navigation button has a nice ribbed structure and the relatively slow speed, combined with a strength of character.
Against the background of the touch keypad, the numeric keypad looks a little boring. Standard eleven separate keys are arranged in a nice and clear way.

Other Features
Menu is standard for the latest generation of Samsung phones. It is convenient, comfortable, but without any novelties. First submenus seem somewhat irritating, but soon, the user can really find freedom in controling it.
One of the interesting features is the communication capabilities. USB and Bluetooth 1.2 provide connectivity (up to about 50 KB / s). For the Internet there is WAP, GPRS and EDGE, this is also rather poor. Wired Headset in collaboration with MP3 player and FM-radio will open the doors to the world of music.

In the literal sense there is nothing outstanding (compared with everything we have met before), but the sound quality is very decent. There are five games preinstalled on the device, three of which have already been well introduced in Samsung phones, they are “Miner”, “Tetris” and “Sudoku”.
The phone has about 20 MB of memory available to user. But you can add megabytes with the help of microSD cards (not included in the set, but they are not expensive).
The device without recharging will operate three days, and in the mode of an active use you have to charge it in a day.

Camera
The general concept of J600E is expressed in the camera. Instead of the almost standard 2-megapixel camera, we have only 1,3 megapixels. In reality the phone is not bad, but, remembering the same E900, ot is somehow offensive.
Maximum image resolution is 1280×1024 pixels. As always, there is a certain minimum set of options with which you can influence the final result of the image. In addition, there are modes: multi-shooting, matrix and night mode. I can not get away from the simple effects such as: black and white, negative, sepia, relief, sketch, orange and others. The display in the viewfinder does not even think slowly, and the resulting images are recorded as fast as the phone memory and on the card.

As for the quality of the photos, they are somewhere between good and excellent, of course, in relation to the cameras pf this class.
Video recording formats are MPEG4/H.263 (AMR, 352×288, 15 fps), which is quite enough.

Conclusion
This is a beautiful, high-quality phone and a cheap phone from Samsung, if I may say so.
So, if you want a stylish and prominent model without unnecessary features, then J600E is definitely what you need. The only thing which I’d like to notice once again is the display. It is not bad, but is rather peculiar, so be sure to pay close attention to the screen. Otherwise, the phone is not bad and is worth money.
